Romanian Society for Byzantine Studies

Welcome

The Romanian Society for Byzantine Studies (SRSB) was established in 1962, with the aim of advancing and radiating internationally the Byzantine and post-Byzantine studies, as well as acting as a platform for fruitful exchange and collaboration between Romanian Byzantinists and the world-wide community of scholars and students of Byzantium. The executive of the SRSB serves as the Romanian National Committee of the International Association of Byzantine Studies (AIEB).

The SRSB operates under the auspices of the Institute for South-East European Studies of the Romanian Academy, which was inaugurated by Nicolae Iorga in 1914 and reestablished under the direction of Mihai Berza in 1963.
